The blackish kind. You would be better off going to lowes or a sports store and buying a knife sharpener, it's a few bucks and it has the stone encased in a plastic guide, I've found it does the job. I have an old motor with a special circle attachment that I use double stick tape to apply a piece of sand paper, and this expedites the job. It also makes my wife and then me happy.
