Knive Set

Knive Set
Cake Decorating supply suggestions. Can you give some advice please?

I'd like to think I know my way around a cake. Ive always purchased the cheap 6 dollar cake decorating tip set from wal mart, grocery stores, dollar stores etc. I want to upgrade a bit, when it comes to my cake decorations. I'm interested in purchasing the Wilton 101 piece set.

Im not sure if thats all I'll need, or if Im gonna want to buy (or need) more tips. I also want to know if it's even worth buying, will I NEED everything in it? Will I need more items? Im used to leveling the cake with a plain o butcher knive, and its always came out fine, Im also used to just having about 4-6 tips to decorate with. I want to step it up a notch, but just want to know if its actually worth it or not. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks In advance =)

I purchased a smaller set of tips many years ago from Wilton and found I basically use maybe 4-6 tips to decorate. I don't think you need all those tips. You can sure do a lot with a few tips.

Hope that helps.
