How to clean folding knife?

I have a folding knife, the Kershaw 1600K. I have borrowed its "friend", and I'm not sure what he did it, but now it is all gummed up and not open a movie anymore. How do I clean it? Would it be OK, and effective only in rubbing alcohol soak overnight and then dry it Q tips? I know this is not a question of hunting, but I figured you would know. Thank you! = 0) throughout the knife, the handle is made of stainless steel

Rubbing alcohol does not harm anything if you use it, however, I'd go some sort of solvent or Goo-Gone. Brake Cleaner is a good stuff too, but is not healthy to breathe. Goo-Gone at Wal-Mart, ACE Hardware, and even the Dollar Tree stores. This is not the only time you can use the stuff either, it gets rid of unpleasant labels, which are stored in love to put all your goods leave the residue, when attempts to remove them. If you do not use alcohol method, you do not need to use Q-Tips for drying, the alcohol evaporates in a few minutes. If you want to extract it, use the Allen wrench, which seems to be the screws that I see a picture of this knife. Couple of screws to take them off, clean all components separately and assemble it. Using Goo-Gone, it would be your only 30-45 minutes tops. I hope this helps.
