Smith Wesson

Does the 40 Smith and Wesson have enough stopping power for home defense?
Does the 40 Smith and Wesson round have enough stopping power for home defense. I would also know the best pistols chambered in 40 s&w. Please name model and brand of pistol. Thanks and please comment your answers.
Stopping power, yes. Do some research on the 10mm auto and you will see how the .40S&W round was born.
Best pistol...that is a matter of opinion, mainly yours.
There are plenty of good, quality .40's out there from inexpensive, to outrageous.
I have had Taurus PT 101 and PT 100's, Miillenias, S&W Sigmas & Glocks. Also shot some Sigs and a few other nice pistols in .40.
I prefer my .45 ACP Kimber but also love my wife's Glock 23. Lightweight, easy to carry and very concealable.
My only beef with the Glock is the snappy torque of the recoil but It is quite tolerable.
Best advice is to try as many different models as you can, find the one that you like the best as far as comfort and functionality, and go with that one. It has to be up to you, after all it will be your gun!
Good luck
