switchblade legal in california, USA?
i want to buy an italian stiletto switchblade knife [automatic knife]. but before i do that i want to know if they are legal to carry around in california. i live in the Bay Area, California. specifically Hayward, CA. and want to know if i can or can't. and if i can, is there a certain blade length it has to be?
i would just want it to carry around ocasionally. and if yes can it just be in like my pocket?
i collect knives, i'm buying one regardless if they are illegal or not. just want to know if i can have it in public or not. don't want a hobby gettin' me in jail or anything ov the sort.
K'lee has quoted the correct law for you. (I don't know where people get these rules. 3'? Your palm?) However, she is incorrect in saying that it is illegal only in public. The prohibition upon carrying a switchblade on your person applies everywhere, not just in public. So unless you keep it at home in a drawer or display case you will probably be breaking the law (and good luck obtaining it without breaking the law).
