Amateur Knife Fighters Always...

stab and lunge with larger motions than necessary. Most people are what I'd call sloppy knife fighters, even a lot of trained martial artists. The way they practice in class could get them killed. I see fancy moves that only impress other artists. And as far as only moving with a purpose, well, all I can say is... these guys watch too many movies. Hollywood is allowed to add extra moves for the sake of good screen choreography; you are not. You need efficiency, which means that long, slow stabs need to be eliminated from your repertoire of techniques.

Reacting to Committed Stabs

One big cause of overly-large, knife-stabbing motions is the level of commitment of the attacker. The attacker steps into the knife thrust or stab, putting his weight behind the move. This is exactly what martial artists train against. They practice their responses to a real, full-on attack, not some wimpy small flicker of the knife. I am not telling you never to commit to your technique. Just be aware that knife fighters will know how to react to that type of movement.

Knife-Fighting Variables

The length of motion is not the only variable in knife fighting. You have to deal with distance and timing (body bubbles), direction of stroke, order of offense and defensive moves, and so on. This article focuses on dealing with people who stab down from above, or step in with a long lunge of their knife. My advice is to react with shorter knife motions...

Knife Practice -- An Efficient Way

Imagine fighting in a small closet or maybe a bathroom stall. You don't have a lot of room to maneuver, right? Practice your knife fighting in a confined space, in order to learn shorter techniques. Then, when you practice in a dojo or martial arts studio, stick to those short motions, even though now, you have a lot more space. Make your opponent step into you with the longer motion. You respond with the shorter, more efficient responses.

Has always been a good source for Katanas. I'm not sure if they have the colors you're looking for, though.

Cordless can openers are convenient tools for opening cans without manually holding it. Black & Decker is one of the leading and trusted can opener manufacturers.

Can openers are kitchen tools used to open the lids of canned foods. It is very essential nowadays since most foods bought in the market today are stored in cans for a greater shelf life.

Can openers are kitchen fixtures. In this day and age, it is unimaginable not to have one. And because of this high demand, there are a lot of companies competing in the market to produce quality can openers. One of the leading brands is Black & Decker.

Black & Decker is better known for its top quality kitchen appliances and this includes can openers. The company manufactures cordless can openers. The idea is to just set the canned goods in place and let the can opener do the work for you. It prevents leaving cuts on your hands. It saves time also. You can do other kitchen work while the can is being opened for you.

The KEC600 model of Black & Decker is one of their newest and most saleable can openers. It comes in a white finish. It is lightweight with a comfortable ergonomic grip. It is also rechargeable and dishwasher safe. Its power-pierce cutter can open up to 30 cans per charge.

Since it is cordless, KEC600 is good for small kitchens with very limited space. The unit is very easy to clean because the blade can easily be taken off for washing and be placed back after drying it thoroughly.
KEC600 does not perform very well with thicker cans though, like coffee containers. It is very portable and suited for only light and easy jobs. Don't force it on thick and heavy materials or it might break.

Another one is the Black & Decker Gizmo, also cordless and portable. It is easy to store and can be brought along in trips. A single charge is capable of opening about 30 cans. The cutter assembly is detachable and safe to clean in a dishwasher. It also comes with a magnetic lid holder and non-slip face.

Gizmo features a power pierce cutter for precise cutting. It is also very easy to use. It stops automatically when the work is done.

Black & Decker Ergo has a black finishing. It features an ergonomic grip, is rechargeable and lightweight. The power pierce cutter automatically shuts off when done. The blades are removable and dishwasher safe.

Many customers are pleased with the performance of Black & Decker can openers. It is no wonder that many users trust this brand.

The Black & Decker Spacemaker can opener is very revolutionary. It is not only cordless, it is also unique in a sense that it is mounted under the cabinets or under the counters rather than made to sit atop tables. This is very space saving.

The Spacemaker is very durable that it can open almost any kind of can. The blades are detachable for easy cleaning. Also, it is a hands-free machine with an auto-off button. You can go on with your other chores while it opens the can for you. The machine will automatically stop after it finishes.

It also has built-in knife sharpeners and bottle openers as added features. The design is very elegant with metallic touches for a classy look.

How to survive in retail during this current down turn, every magazine or paper you open is full of the state of the economy and how bad everything is. Likewise, there is almost a sense of glee when reporting on companies that are making drastic cuts in order to stay afloat. Some tips to reflect on - but first:

Imagine your favourite fruit tree, we will picture a plum tree (my favourite). Someone goes mad with the pruning cutter, what happens, do you get any fruit? No, and the result of these cuts, the plum tree will decline and fade away. Let's look at the issue of pruning and make some comparisons with the current economic climate. If you cut to deeply or in the wrong places the business will fail.

There are smart ways to make cost savings, but remember to make sure any cost cuts are a team effort. You are the leader of your business, keep your staff aware of what's going on and always maintain a postive front. Don't make cuts that put the quality and integrity or your organisation in jeopardy.

Perks for management should be the first to go, put salary increase's on hold, cancel all bonus payments. Lead by example and send out the message, we are all in this together.

Take a hard look at cost items. Examples are expenses (hotels etc), equipment purchase, rental cars. Travel for meetings. Stay put, cut out unnecessary travel where ever possible. Use e'mail, the telephone, conference calls as alternatives. If a meeting is vital make them smaller and plan for much shorter travelling time. Car share if at all possible.

Put a hold on staff recruitment, especially in administrative roles. If at all possible combine jobs, even if this is for a short time. Give staff incentives to double up on work as long as they can handle it. Often you will find that you really don't need that extra person, and you will save on overhead costs.

Communicate with your staff, seek solutions from them. Ask people to come up with their own cost-cutting ideas and reward them when they do - by giving a percentage to the one that came up with the idea, or a flat reward, I have done this many times, it is very powerful and works big time.

Review staff salaries and benefits. Tread carefully here and ensure that everyone is sharing the load and be open and fair handed with all. Do not mess around with the morale of your people. Never under any circumstances cancel a celebration, special event or rewards ceremony. It costs nothing to reward employees, lift their morale, pay attention to them and ensure they feel valued.

Insist that your managers/supervisors spend time on the 'shop floor' with employees. Buy them a coffee, send them a note of praise. These gestures of thanks and appreciation keep employees on side and loyal during difficult times.

Consolidate - if you have multiple retail outlets, reveiw them for their overall profit contributions. In some cases, terminating leases and closure of some locations stops the avalanche of expenses. Likewise, if you have planned retail openings, put this on hold and delay the opening this will conserve cash flow and save huge amounts.

Instead of advertising, look at public relations instead. In many businesses in can actually have a better result at a fraction of the cost.

Honestly reveiw and assess your staff, are they all in the correct role for their skill base and talents? Look at ways to re-position and re-train where necessary, they are your direct link to your customers and as such a huge asset.

Convenience retail owner manager with expertise in the forecourt business and hospitality. Staff in these businesses have formed the foundation, the glue that holds the operational side of things together. They did not start off that way. There was some pruning, assessing, development and then training, the assessing never stops it is the only way to keep on target, along with recruitment of the right people.

http://www.how2retail.co.uk

As the weather wanes, many of us might be in confusion as to what we should wear. Do you pull out the light knit sweaters and stow the tank tops? Do you tone down the colors of your vibrant summer wardrobe? Do you start wearing closed-toe pumps instead of strappy sandals? Well, this article will answer all of your questions about what to wear at this time of year. I will highlight the top five trends for late summer, early fall 2008. You may be surprised by what you can continue to wear and what you need to put in storage for next year.

Belted Jackets. This staple has been a fashion favorite since “Dynasty”, except our version does not have shoulder pads. This hot look is defined by a cinched in silhouette and short sleeved or sleeveless profile. These jackets work well with cropped trousers, a favorite dress, or a fluted skirt. If you want to keep the look clean, wear this belted jacket in colors of white, cream, ecru and khaki.

Bright Colors + Balance. Good news, you can still wear your sunshine yellows and hot pinks, but it is time to balance them out with a bit of neutral. Add a beige, cream, or navy skirt or pant (no black, it’s too early in the year for that!) to a vivid top or dress to make your wardrobe a little more appropriate for this time of year. Another option is to wear bright accessories instead of bright articles of clothing; either choice will keep your ensemble fresh. Just remember, you cannot wear bright accessories and bright clothing, you have to pick one or the other or else you will look garish.

Disco Queen. Seventies glam is so hip right now, but be warned the trend differs slightly for day and evening wear. For daytime wear, be bold in statement jewelry worn around the arms, wrists, or neck. For evening wear, relive the languid glamour of Studio 54 in glitterball sequins, gold accents, and slinky jumpsuits. Be bold with this trend and try it all, but just not all at once!

Go Grey. Grey is the new black for this time of year, so wear it from head-to-toe for the most dramatic effect. Vary shades from silver to heather for a very streamlined, earthy, but fashionable effect. Keep this sophisticated with relaxed tailoring in luxurious fabrics such as cashmere and silks. Try this trend in fluted skirts, high-waisted pants, fitted blazers, and fedora hats. Due to the subtly of this trend, it is appropriate to wear day or night.

Bold Prints. Since the weather is still warm, summer dresses in bold prints are the way to go. Keep this trend simple with a sheath dress and wear with chunky accessories for a contemporary look. Feminine florals is contrasted well with a tailored jacket and sophisticated footwear.

So there you have it, these trends are the way to go to stay relevant and fashionable for the late summer, early fall 2008 season. From belted jackets to fabulous prints, you will look great if you try these trends. As with everything, a little practice will make perfect. So feel free to experiment with a couple of trends at once, just don’t go overboard. As always, good luck and happy shopping!

The search for the best kind of replacements should one's power tools get broken should not come as a challenge. The first instinct is to choose the best brand since in the first pace, they are using a quality brand and that is Black and Decker. Parts are available in the internet for them to choose from. There they will be given different choices per category so they would not just have to be forced to buy only one kind.

Black & Decker Parts work in proper sync with tools and equipments manufactured by the same company. That is why when replacing some parts, you should not look for other brands all because it is priced at a lower rate. Why are there are still people in need of parts since it is very much known to produce top caliber performing tools. This is now due to human error on the part of the consumer.

There are people who still have perfectly functioning equipments but would just want to make sure that they have some replacement parts on them just in case. The main reason here is the discontinuation of a particular product or part of the total assembly. Since Black and Decker creates products that would last a long time, by the time it does really conk out there should still be replacement parts which sometimes there are already none.

Searching the internet for these parts is a lot easier now al they have to remember is the model code.

This being said, branding is an important factor as well as many different brands take different measures towards creating the luxury watch that creates a stir in a crowd and calls attention to your success at life. Much time is put into every watch as the precision machinery inside has been developed over centuries of diligent progress in the science of time.

Trusted brands in steel watch markets are sure to have the durability that you would expect for the price you pay. A watch constructed of stainless steel is a great material choice to help extend the life of your wristwatch. These watches are designed to do just about anything and can withstand a variety of situations including diving to deep depths, shock, resistance to scratching and having anti-theft options to ensure that your watch remains on your wrist unless you take it off yourself. No matter whether you are at a business meeting or having the time of your life at a vacation you will remember the rest of your life, having a watch that can take care of itself is refreshing. Simply polish and maintain the watch when needed.

Elegance is simply designed into each and every watch and will be sure to define your status amongst the wealthy and refined. Brand names such as Rolex, Movado, Omega as well as several others are well known and can really help you to meet the right people at an expensive party. Owning a luxury watch is like being part of a fraternity of success. The refining of the workmanship that takes to create the perfect watch takes several decades to master.

People are sure to see the steel watch on your wrist and immediately know that you are serious about what you do. Success makes owning such luxuries possible and the status of success is something that every successful person would enjoy others, no matter what social class they stem from, to recognize.

Finding a steel watch that matches your style and/or stature will not be easy. There are many brands and models to choose from. However, when you find the right watch, you will know. Make the right decision and you may have found a watch you can fall in love with.

There are plenty of reasons why you would want to take your cell phone with you when you travel abroad. Of course, it means that you will be able to stay in touch with friends and family back home. If you have the right cell phone plan, it will be cheaper than trying to buy phone cards or use pay phones. Travelling abroad can be difficult at times, and figuring out how you are going to pay for things when you do can be even harder. Therefore, you always want to think about taking your phone with you when you travel abroad. If you do so, you will need a safe way for the phone to travel, and a safe place to store it as well.

Using your phone when you are traveling abroad can be a lifesaver. You can keep in touch with your family back home, get work updates, and just generally be able to know what's going on when you are not there. Also, you can use your phone to aid you in your travels. Whether you need to call a taxi company, call somewhere else for information, or just take care of some local business, a cell phone can really come in handy. Therefore, like when you are at home, your cell phone can be your best ally when you are travelling abroad. It is important to keep it where you can find it, and to keep it safe from damage.

There are many ways to keep your cell phone close to you: in a pocket, in your purse or bag, or even clipped to your belt. However, none of these ways is as good as using the Smart Clip, especially for travelling abroad. Using the Smart Clip has them all beat.

When your phone is in your pocket, it might seem like is easily accessible. If you are getting on trains or into a cab or walking down the street, your phone is right there by your side. However, depending on your pockets, your phone can get crushed, get turned on, or even get damaged. You can make calls accidentally if you leave it on while it’s in your pocket, and at internationally rates, you really don't want to be doing that. It can also be hard to get out of your pocket when you really need it; like when it is ringing and you need to answer it!

Your purse might also seem like a good idea. But remember, cell phones are small. It can easily fall to the bottom of your purse and be hard to find among everything else. It can get crushed by heavier objects, or fall out of your purse while you are rooting through it. Also, when you are traveling abroad, your purse is a major target for thieves. If your purse gets stolen, with your cell phone inside, you are not only going to be without your purse, but your phone too.

Any other type of bag that you are carrying has the same hazards as a purse. It is simply too easy to lose a phone when it is carried in a bag, and it is too hard to get to the phone when you really need it. Therefore, carrying your phone with you at all times is suddenly a hard option for you to figure out.

A clip is a great alternative, though, not just any clip. Regular clips, used on your belt, can be great, but your phone can also get stuck in them, and you will find that it is hard to access. You want your phone to be accessible at all times, no matter what, so the Smart Clip is going to be your best option.

The Smart Clip will keep your phone in easy reach, no matter where you want it. Your hands can be full, and you can have a billion other things to worry about, but your phone does not have to be one of them. You can use 3M adhesive to attach the clip, and then use the loop to hang the clip wherever you'd like it – whether it is on your belt or your belt loops, or even from a purse or handbag or other type of bag. This means that you can decide where your phone can be.

Another advantage applies if you are getting a rental car – you can use the peel and stick hook to attach your Smart Clip to the dashboard. This will allow provide you with hands-free talking, which is especially important when you are driving abroad and might not know the area as well. As an added bonus, the clip features an LED light, which means that no matter where you go, you will be able to use the light to see what you need to see, including your phone.
