ive been looking at the steve ryan 7 folder. ive heard some good things about them. very high quality for low price.

i found it for $19.99.

i heard mtech makes some solid knives, not as good as ryan but still good.

anyone have any suggestions other than the good ol buck knife?

thanks.

If I were you I would go with CRKTs line up, some of which can be found at Wal-Mart or most outdoors type stores. They are well made, sharp and will fit in your price range. The one you have your eye on is a great choice.

You would not think that a company that has serviced the home cooks and professional chefs with their great selection of the best pots and pans available could come up with anything equal or better, but they have. We now have the Le Creuset casserole dish. Le Creuset has come out with a selection of ceramic oven-to-table dishes of which the casserole is one. Like the pots and pans you can bake with the ceramic dishes and serve them right from the oven. Unlike the pots and pans however, the ceramic dishes cannot take the high heat that the pots and pans can The ceramic dishes do not come in the vibrant colors that the pots come in. It comes only in white

The Le Creuset casserole dish comes in two sizes. The larger size can be used to cook such things as slow cooked chili, curry dishes and other such types of foods. The smaller of the two is an individual casserole that can cook and serve a pot pie or any other individual meal. Both sizes come with lids.

The Le Creuset casserole dish along with all of the other ceramics can be placed in the oven from the freezer. It is dishwasher safe and microwaveable. What cook or chef would not be happy to own and cook in such a versatile yet attractive casserole dish? Unlike most dishes the casserole dish is made from a very high quality porcelain and unlike most other ceramics this casserole dish is resistant to stains, chips and scratches. Scratches on dishes are unsanitary as they can harbor germs within those cracks caused by deep scratches. There is no chance of such lack of proper sanitary conditions with these ceramic dishes.

Prepare elegant meals at home with the dish because it is porcelain, it retains heat, enabling you to serve a hot meal even if everyone is slow in getting to the table. The white dishes blend well with any color or combination of colors you presently have as your dinnerware set.

Le Creuset Casserole is considered as the best, long lasting casserole in the marketing. It is a great addition to your kitchen and a great investment for the long term. After all they are around since 1924.

Sharpening carving tools is an essential step in carving. A sharp carving tool works better because it slices through the wood easier, making it safer and quicker to use. It, also, leaves a cleaner path behind. A good sharp edge means less effort, which means less force. When less force is needed, more control is possible, making the work safer.

There are many methods of sharpening carving tools from power grinders to wetstones to sandpaper and finally the strop. The most inexpensive method is using a couple of grades of sandpaper and a strop.

How much sharpening is needed depends on how damaged the edge of the blade is. If damaged or dull, you will need to use a 400 grit sandpaper laid on a flat surface such as the edge of the table. Place the blade edge down and drag it across the wet surface of the paper at an eleven degree angle. One way of finding an approximate eleven degree angle is to use either a nickel or a dime beneath the spine of the blade.

If your carving blade is three quarters of and inch in width or more, lay your blade flat on the sharpening surface and raise the spine of the blade until you can fit the edge of a nickel under it. If it is less than three quarters of an inch, use a dime.

Drag the edge along the wet sandpaper surface until all the nicks are gone and you have a smooth edge. Then do the same thing using a 600 grit wet sandpaper.

Finish by loading your leather (strop) up with your white aluminum oxide to the point that it won't absorb any more compound. You can use some light oil to help create a paste-like consistency. Make sure you wipe your blade clean of any sandpaper residue with a cloth. You don't want to get any grit on your strop. Then drag your knife edge along the strop at the same 11 degree angle, and continue equally on both sides, sharpening until you get a mirrored edge.

You can test the sharp edge by taking your knife and carving across the end grain of a piece of carving wood. You should see a smooth shiny surface and the end grain clearly. If you see a white line in your slice, you have a nick in your edge. You need to go back and start the process over. Once you have the edge you like on your knife, all you should have to do is strop about every fifteen minutes and protect your edge when you're not using your knife.

All of us are familiar with the cutlery set that we often use in our daily life, especially for kitchen purpose. It is actually derived from the word "Cutler", meaning a person expert in making knives. Almost every handy utensil used for preparing, serving and eating food is defined by the word "Cutlery".

There are a wide range of cutlery sets configurations on the market, but the Cutco brand is the best of all. They were the expertise craftsmen of CUTCO's factory in Ocean, New York who first manufactured the products of CUTCO in 1949. It'd be nothing better than using the Cutco Knives in your kitchen. There is obviously no turning back after once you try the Cutco knives or other Cutco products.

The ancient tradition of crafting finest kitchen cutlery is still continued by the CUTCO. Cutco knives and utensils arrive with an offer of free sharpening. An enhanced embossed blade technology is used for producing Cutco knives. The Cutco knife's blade runs smoothly through its handle for the exceptional strength. Since the Cutco knives are embossed rather than being forged, there is absence of bolster. Bolster is actually the broad metal piece nearby the handle. The Cutco knives are outstandingly well-balanced, and the bolster absence is also unnoticeable.

Stain resistant steels are used for producing every single Cutco knife and other Cutco's products. Since high carbon results in increased sharpness, the amount of carbon is placed extremely high in the Cutco's products. The entire models of Cutco cutlery sets resist corroding and rusting. The exclusive Double-D edge has been used in Cutco knifes intending to offer clean and smooth cut. The design of Cutco knife is exceptionally superb, "Hand-Perfect", that's it. The forefinger and thumb are locked into a safe place for being secured from any unexpected accident. The Cutco knives include the vastly engineered thermo-resin substances, and that is why, it don't chip, fade, crack or absorb any material. Moreover, Cutco knives also comprise full tang and triple rivet construction. Focusing to achieve additional balance and strength, the full length of the knife is extended by the Tang. Whereas, triple rivets are the ground flush that arrive with the handle of strength, comfort, reliability, and durability.

It is absolutely possible for you to explore out the extensive deals of Cutco knives, as well as other kitchen cutlery at "The Cutlery Set" store. Now you won't need to seek Cutco sales representatives or visit any Cutco cutlery offering websites in order to acquire your desired Cutco cutlery. It's because you can now easily find out the entire kitchen items of the Cutco brand according to your requirements and at a cheaper price than any other sellers are offering out there, at "The Cutlery Set" store.

Furthermore, we also offer some best tips better to be considered when purchasing a professional kitchen cutlery set, as well as tips on what to seek in a professional knife.

Ensure that you haven't forgotten to bookmark "The Cutlery Set" Store because you'll be offered with more item regularly as we add latest Cutco knives [http://www.thecutleryset.com/Store/CutcoKitchenSets] and other kitchen accessories in the regular basis.

You can use cooking oil on the handles to help prevent splintering / vegetable, olive, canola (not Baby, lol) And actually it helps prevent rust on the blades too!

There really isn’t any doubt that H.I.D. lights are gaining a lot of appeal in the automotive industry. Ask most luxury car owners and it’s one of the things they have included in their “To Buy” list. In fact, these kits have slowly become a household name in the industry -- thanks to the right combination of style and safety that it is becoming known for.

However, one question that most drivers ask is how easy HID lights can be installed. Actually, it’s as easy as changing the bulb of a semi-complex and sophisticated flashlight. What you need is a semblance of common sense, two working hands, an instruction guide that comes with the HID kit that you’ve purchased and a bit of trial and error from time to time.

Before you begin installing your HID lights, make sure that the crews are installed in their respective holes. This will prevent possible mishaps during the assembly process, since the screws might unpredictably go in at an angle, which consequently makes it much harder to turn and install the screws later on. Immediately installing them in their housing can prevent these problems from ruining your day.

Now that you have done the screws, the first step to installing your HID lights is to remove the battery's negative cable. Remove the headlamp’s top cover, and manually position the door in the mid-position to remove it. Look for the manual override knob on the inside corner of each headlamp, and raise it to remove the bezels and top cover easily. Next, remove the headlamp assembly using a 10mm socket and ratchet, and once you’ve removed the assembly, use a sharp razor knife to score the aluminum headlight. Once the headlight assembly is out of the way, slash the aluminum headlight bucket with a fine razor knife. The scored ribs must be removed to install the new HID headlight assembly.

Next, get your aluminum rib and break it off. After doing the first headlight bucket, tighten your vise grips when grabbing the aluminum to make sure that the edges are cleanly cut. Run the razor knife again if the aluminum does not break in your first try. After this, use a piece of two-sided tape to attach the ballast to the inner fender and strengthen the ballast by adding screws. Don’t cover the serial number on the backside in case you need to replace your ballast. And also, make sure the headlamp assembly fits without frictions happening on any of the cut aluminum ribs.

After you’ve done this, put the screws by reaching around the sides of the headlamp bucket. Make sure to place some soft rags or blankets around the hood and fender to prevent falling pieces from rubbing and scratching the headlamp housing on the paint.

Now you can install the screws to firmly hold the ballast on the inner fender. Don’t exert too much force when putting the screws in place because the inner fender is light and prone to breakage. Once all the screws are placed, secure them carefully. Be extra careful in this process, too. The screws can cut into the plastic and break off the plastic mounting ears.

Now loosen the coolant reservoir and remove the battery protector to route the wiring under the battery tray. The battery protector pops out easily. Just press the plastic pushpin along the windshield edge to pull it out. Then, tie the cross wire harness in place by using tie-wraps. Make sure that you are careful around the hood hinges, as the wiring can be nipped if you leave it unlatched.

Once all the wires are in place, connect them to the ballast. However, make sure that you install the colored wires correctly -- the battery and ground supply wires to the ballast should be installed with the red wire on the inside next to the inner fender and the black wire out.

Next, crimp the wire connectors together. Then, connect and tighten the battery wires to the stud on the fuse panel. Pay attention to the placement of the terminals so the plastic cover can be reinstalled.

After this, carefully connect the screws and tighten them afterwards. Once they are tightened, manually turn the headlights down into position to put it in its correct placement. One way to check if it is properly placed is through wiggles. The rule of thumb is that when it is wiggling, then you need to adjust it again.

Now, run the wiring under the reservoir by removing the coolant reservoir. It’s not necessary to remove the coolant hoses when the screws are already removed. As you can see, the negative battery cable is still separated, so do the final wiring connections at the frame ground stud. The black wires are joined here, and then the battery protector that you previously took out sits down on top of the stud.

By the way, when you are doing the wiring, refer back to the instructions provided by the company. You may find some headlamp wire connectors have missing wires. Don’t panic. This is quite normal in most products. And also, you can prevent shorting by remembering to connect the single wires and thrusting the provided boot. Use a tie-wrap to grasp it out of the way of the headlamp during opening and closing.

There you have it. It doesn’t take a rocket science to install HID lights. Just follow these steps, and you’ll soon enjoy the benefits of having these lights installed in your vehicle.
