Fishing Camp

Fishing Camp
Where in Oregon should I go camping and fishing?

Hello! My boyfriend has never gone camping, and I wanted to show him Oregon in all of its splendor! I used to camp as a kid, but don't remember any of the sites that we went to!

So: where do YOU reccomend we go camping? We're looking for a beautiful place where we can experience the beauty of Oregon and perhaps do some fishing! Also, if there are any events (like festivals of sorts) going on, we'd love to go to that, too!

Any and ALL of your suggestions (and camping stories) are greatly appreciated!

Here are a few of my favorite places in Northwest Oregon
Timothy Lake is up past Mt. Hood and very relaxing but my husband never has much luck with fishing. It has a nice trail around the lake for hike or bike ride. Little Crater lake is about 15 minute from there. It is a very deep, very clear lake the size of a pond.
Trillium lake is also up by Mt. Hood it is also very pretty and my uncle loves fishing there in the summer.

There a lot of place on the Oregon coast but most you need to make reservations months in advance unless you go in the middle of the week and plan to leave before the weekend.

Also the are a lot of nice campground on the Clackamas river past Estacada. At the end of July Estacada has a summer celebration and has some rafting events that take place along the Clackamas.

Make sure when you go to bring stuff for smores because no camping trip is complete without them.

Have fun!

Camp Hike

Camp Hike
I'm Looking to move somewhere that has mild/warmer winters, yet has hills, so we can hike and camp?

I live in a state that has beautiful summers. It is warm and there are many hills to camp and hike. My problem is, is that it is freezing from Oct to April. Any suggestions on where I can move so we can still have camping and hiking throughout the year. And not be so depressed because we have to stay inside for 7 months?

G'day,

Without being silly I could recommend taking part in winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, etc.

I live in upstate NY and am out and about all the time in winter. I like it, actually. When I was young & thin, I skied.

How hot & sticky do you like it? The US SE is one locale, but I couldn't stand their hot & muggy summers.

San Diego has a great climate and is not too far from hills & mountains. Remember earthquakes.

You might want to check out Oregon & Washington state. Wikipedia can give you the climate on some of the major cities there.

Accuweather & The Weather Channel web sites can give you some climate data.

There are climate maps of the US. Then match them up with geography.

Reno/Carson City might appeal to you.

I hope, this helps.

Fish Camp

Fish Camp

Any fishing enthusiast can find fishing camps for sale in Canada very attractive. But then what should be your criteria? How do you find them?

Think of amenities.

Any fishing camp should be complete with all the necessary amenities. These include fish freezing and cleaning services, boat rentals, and an option for a guide. You can also opt to go a little higher so you can enjoy what's is considered more than basic. This way, you'll have a more laidback and comfortable lifestyle.

Check out other added services.

There are a number of fish camps that include maid services. This means you can come home on a clean cabin right after your fishing adventure. Others can have personal showers installed in each of the cabins. If not, then you have to get used to common shower houses. If you are too concerned of personal hygiene, then you should settle with the former.

See if shops are included in the deal.

The majority of the fishing camps in Canada have bait and tackle stores. If you want more information about them, you can request those from the camp owner. Usually, other items sold include soda, ice, toiletries, and a small section of groceries.

A store can be added source of income for you. You can man it while you're on fishing vacation or you can ask someone to supervise it for you. Either way, you should ask the camp owner if the store is included in the deal.

Learn about the restaurants.

More modern and high-end fishing camps have complete restaurant services. This means that someone can take care of fish preparation and cooking so once you're out of the water, you'll have a sumptuous meal. When you wish to spend extra money on this type of service, you're assured that you'll get your moneys worth.

Determine how near you are to fishing grounds.

The main reason why you're thinking of buying a fishing camp is because you're after fish. The best fishing camps up for sale are those that are situated near lakes or rivers where you can fish anytime you want and not worry about having to go back quickly to camp. You can also choose a well-secluded area to avoid too much competition.

In shopping for fishing camps for sale, you can start scouting in one of your fishing trips or ask families and friends in Canada to do that for you. But for something quicker, you can simply surf the Internet. You can find great websites that offer a list of fishing camps open for sale. This also allows you to evaluate each of them carefully so you can pick nothing but the best.
