Fishing Camp

Where in Oregon should I go camping and fishing?
Hello! My boyfriend has never gone camping, and I wanted to show him Oregon in all of its splendor! I used to camp as a kid, but don't remember any of the sites that we went to!
So: where do YOU reccomend we go camping? We're looking for a beautiful place where we can experience the beauty of Oregon and perhaps do some fishing! Also, if there are any events (like festivals of sorts) going on, we'd love to go to that, too!
Any and ALL of your suggestions (and camping stories) are greatly appreciated!
Here are a few of my favorite places in Northwest Oregon
Timothy Lake is up past Mt. Hood and very relaxing but my husband never has much luck with fishing. It has a nice trail around the lake for hike or bike ride. Little Crater lake is about 15 minute from there. It is a very deep, very clear lake the size of a pond.
Trillium lake is also up by Mt. Hood it is also very pretty and my uncle loves fishing there in the summer.
There a lot of place on the Oregon coast but most you need to make reservations months in advance unless you go in the middle of the week and plan to leave before the weekend.
Also the are a lot of nice campground on the Clackamas river past Estacada. At the end of July Estacada has a summer celebration and has some rafting events that take place along the Clackamas.
Make sure when you go to bring stuff for smores because no camping trip is complete without them.
Have fun!

Spanish Style

So you are learning Spanish and your goal is to develop fast Spanish skills. And you want real Spanish ability, not just an expanded vocabulary that you don't know how to use in a real conversation.
I am assuming that you have some plan. You are probably either going to go to a regular Spanish class or you are going to buy a Spanish program. Good for you, these are good first steps. Here are some fast Spanish learning tricks to keep in mind.
It is all about the sex
Well that probably got your attention. But you do need to think in terms of gender or sex when you are developing your vocabulary. For every word you encounter, you will need to learn two things. Obviously, you will need to learn the actual word. The Spanish for table! Or the Spanish for sausage! But you will also need to bear in mind that words which have no gender in English, like table and sausage, do have a gender in Spanish. Basically the table is a girl. And the sausage is a boy. Table is "la mesa" and sausage is "el chorizo" See what I mean? If you tackle this early on, then you will be on a faster track. Gender is much more important is Spanish, and adjectives are also modified based on the gender of the noun. So sex is fast Spanish trick number one.
Safety in numbers
OK, this writer has really lost it I hear you say! Why is he talking about safety? Learning Spanish is not dangerous. And fast Spanish skills will not get you a speeding ticket. Truth is - I'm not talking about safety, I'm talking about numbers. If you go to a bar, you will ask for a beer. "Waiter, I'd like a cold beer please." But the concept of "a" doesn't really exist in Spanish. A beer translates as "una cerveza" or one beer. See - it's safer to think it terms of numbers.
Help a Spanish speaker learn English
Hold on a minute. If I'm trying to learn Spanish, why would I waste my time teaching English? Well, lets go back to the bar. Remember that cold beer a few paragraphs back? You would say "a cold beer, please" to the waiter. A Spanish speaker with only very basic English might say "please, one beer cold" Why? Because this is a literal translation of how they would say it in Spanish - "por favor, una cerveza frio." Now that poor English is very helpful to you for developing fast Spanish speaking skills. There are a lot of lessons in that simple phrase. You have learned that the beer is a girl. You will note that generally please comes before the request, not after. And you can see that the adjective comes after the noun and not before it (beer cold, not cold beer.) You can also see that the word for cold has been modified to the female gender (ending in a) because of the gender of beer in Spanish. If you wanted a cold sausage it would translate as "uno chorizo frio."
You can see how simulating an immersion setting and hearing real conversations is so important to develop fast Spanish skills.

Style Survival

Colon cancer survival rates indicate the chances a cancer patient has of surviving the disease for a specified length of time. The rates are by no means a definite indicator of what will happen to a patient; they can at best predict a patient's chances of what might happen to him, if a type of treatment plan is opted for, based on what has happened to other patients in similar circumstances. They serve as a guide to a patient and his family to know what they can expect if they choose a particular type of treatment or if they should consider one at all rather than just opt for pain relievers and sedation.
Colon cancer is a disease of the lower part of the digestive system affecting the colon, rectum and appendix. It is also called colorectal or large bowel cancer. It is the 2nd leading cause of cancer related deaths in the Western World.
Colon cancer when detected in the early stages is one of the most curable of cancers, by as much as 90%. Happily, the colon cancer survival rates have been steadily improving over the past 20 years, because of improved screening that makes treatment possible at the early curable stages. There are over 1 million survivors of the disease in the US today.
As with most cancers, prognosis is determined by the stage at which the disease is diagnosed, the later the stage at which the disease is diagnosed, the lower the survival rate. The Journal of the National Cancer Institute gives these overall survival rates for colon cancer in the US: 93% at stage 1, 85% at stage 2A, 72% at stage 2B, 83% at stage 3A, 64% at stage 3B, 44% at stage 3C and 8% at stage 4.
Colon cancer survival rates also vary depending on where the tumor is located. If the cancerous growth is located in the ascending colon, the 5 year survival rate is 63%, for the transverse colon it is 59% and for the descending colon it is 66%.
Treatment is mainly surgical in which the cancerous section of the bowel is removed and the two open ends are joined. If they can't be joined, a colostomy bag is necessary, in which case the bowel is brought outside the abdominal wall for the bag. Surgery is followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy which improves the survival rate by a further 5-6%.
Overall colon cancer affects men and women of all races equally however, women are more prone to developing colon cancer and men rectal cancer. Being over the age of 50 presents an increased risk factor with the risk for developing the disease increasing with each passing decade. Over 75% of cases are diagnosed in people over the age of 50 however; younger people too are at risk and cannot afford to ignore screening. Smoking, consumption of alcohol, being overweight and living sedentary lifestyles is risk factors as are having a family history of the disease and diabetes.
Since it has been proved that colon cancer survival rates have increased due to increased and improved screening techniques, it is highly recommended that the survival rates be further improved with people over the age of 40 having regular colonoscopies and rectal exams to increase the chances of early detection and treatment.

Army Combat

The Dark Black and sleek F-117 silently enters the battelespace, a really interesting looking aircraft, and about the most deadly thing that your opponent could ever be worried of going up against. You can't see it, stealth technology makes it nearly invisible. The Radar signature is less than that of a large bird, it just does not show up.
Of course, the US is always upgrading all the time, which makes it fun to guess what they are working on next. The future will yield stealth UAV fighters, hypersonic aircraft, VTOL with unbelievably light materials, which are see through, with practically no sound, heat or radar signatures.
The next generation of stuff is unmatched in all the human history of mankind's achievements. It is an interesting time to be alive and watch it al unfold. Boy would I hate to be an enemy of the US, as whether the enemy hides or thinks they can, is irrelevant really, because the future technologies will make them as visible as day and the robotics of the future will eliminate all threats at the speed of light.
What about the new stuff in the US Aviation Arsenal now, like the F-35, which is a VTOL version of the JSF (Joint Strike Fighter). I believe Saudi Arabia is buying some, pretty smart and a really good move, of course they can afford to have the best aircraft in the world. Being an ally of the US is also a very smart move for this Century, as those who oppose the USA, well for them that is scary stuff - they should rethink that potentially deadly posturing and political rhetoric.
The JSF is the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world, the performance, the real performance is somewhat secret, but folks tell me that it blows the doors of the anything that the Russians have built (China is really missing out, along with India and other nations that buy the Russian Stuff). The JSF has some major advantages in combat and you cannot see it coming. The electronics and such make it very ominous.
It is a true peace keeper due to its accuracy, stealth and ability to hit pin-point targets, deliver precision guided bunker buster munitions capable of penetrating 400 ft below the ground thru solid concrete, I could not believe the footage I saw of the tests. Amazing, looked like magic, completely blew me away.
Indeed the new radar jamming equipment means no nation can contain the onslaught of American Technology, those who think they can build nuclear weapons to give to terrorist will be removed from this time period. I suppose that is a good thing for the world. Smaller nations like Iran, Venezuela, North Korea, really need to think very carefully their future moves, said the Founder of the Online Think Tank.
