Tri Hone
What language is the most beneficial to learn ? For use specifically in the military ?
I have been teaching myself Russian and Arabic and was wondering which language would be the most beneficial to pursue ? I am in the USAF and would like to eventually use my skills when they are honed to perfection. If anyone had any tips on a specific language to learn other than Arabic or Russian, it would be greatly appreciated. Also is there any pay benefits by being completely fluent and bi-lingual perhaps tri-lingual ?
Farsi and Arabic are what's really needed right now. Secondary would probably be Russian, Chinese, and maybe Korean. I also think there is an army web site where you can get that Rosetta Stone software for free since you are active duty. If you work with/know anyone Army ask them about it. There are pay benefits with language proficiency. There is a test that you have to take that will determine if you speak/read/write/listen well enough to get paid. Talk to you NCOIC to find where to go on base to take it and they may have some more ideas to help you out.

Oboe Reed Knife Sharpening? What happens if you use the coarse side of the stone?
I am sharpening my oboe reed knife right now, and it does not seem to be getting any sharper. I was wondering if it is bad to use the coarse side of the stone, rather than the fine side that i am using right now!
With knife sharpening in general, the coarse side is only used when a knife is really dull as it takes a good deal of steel off in the process. The smoother side is for keeping an already pretty sharp blade at perfect sharpness. So if the smooth side isn't working for you then go back to the coarse side and then back to the smoother side.

Knife Sharpeners: Ozitech's Diamond Fingers or electric knife sharpener?
I've always been an electric knife sharpener guy. Yes it might eat up the blades but it's been 25 years so far and my Henckels still look pretty good.
Now I see the Diamond Finger system that Rachael Ray recommends. I also read a lot of reviews. What do ya'll think? How do you sharpen your knives? And if you prefer a steele, good on you: my arms get tired!
go to napa auto parts the have this new sharpener i might be the finger i am not sure. it ia about 3 inches long with a carbide tip...it is the best sharpener i have ever used..you just run it down the blade a few times and wow like a razor..i still use the steel to hone. it cost 11$ OH! you lay it on the edge and it will follow the angle.
