When I first heard about ceramic knives, I could not believe it. I know that the ceramic statues, which are fragile in many pieces. Why ceramic knife to be different? The Boy I was wrong. They are much stronger than I thought.

Ceramic knives are out of Zirconia. They do not have any metal, and has a smooth, almost white, or white colors. Their composition is much harder than steel. Actually, they are second only to diamonds, which are most minerals all. Is not that something?

Is another category of ceramic knives, which have black wings. These blades will start a White Zirconia. And, in addition to burning during sintering is called, converts them to black zirconium carbide. This process provides the advantage of blades for even stricter than before. Now they are the strongest knives there.

It is a clear benefit of ceramic over steel razor knife.

- Edge longevity. Because they are harder than steel knives, they can be sharp much longer. Generally, most ceramic knives hold their edge of months, if used correctly.

- Ease of use. Because they see the edges anymore, they are easier to use than steel knives. Less is sharpening. They are also much lighter than steel knives.

- Use to Resistance. Ceramic knives will not tarnish or rust. They should not be colored food acids.

- Chemically inert. You do not need to worry over whether or not the food tastes or smells like metal. Is not it good?

- Easy to clean. Ceramic knives are closed. It is not always necessary the use of special cleaning agents or abrasives to clean them.

It is precisely because there are advantages, there are some pretty significant disadvantages can be used ceramic knives.

- Expensive. They are usually more expensive than steel knives. This is because zirconium oxide is fairly advanced material and cost more than steel. In addition, imported ceramic knives, because most of them are the high import tax, which adds to their price tag.

- Edge fragility. Quality ceramic knives are not likely to shatter when dropped. However, they are likely to get broken or chipped the edge of the tip. Although they are very strong, their edges are quite weak. Cutting the bone or anything similar hardness is, therefore, no question.

- Breakable Blades. If you are using ceramic knife than prying tool, you have a very good chance of snapping the blade is a handle. Just do not do it. At the same time when the knife is not intended for prying, that could really easy blade in half, when the strong pressure applied leaves room for concern. Use it only for cutting.

All in all, you should not sharpen ceramic knives. Once they have bought customers are invited to bring the knives back to the manufacturer once they have been sharpened. If this is not possible, they are invited to make Knives and engineering.

Sharpening ceramic knife is not the same as a knife sharpening steel. It is a whole new animal. You really have to already be a professional sharpener. However, with good skills and the right tools, you can really impress myself.

Ceramic knives are truly amazing. They are very effective. Availability may be limited, but if you use it, be careful. They are quite exceptional.
