What Is A Buck 119 Special Hunting Knife Used For?

By Jeff On August 25, 2009 Under Knife Hunting

Its just a general fixed-blade hunting knife. It will skin, gut, cut, etc... fairly well, but not as well as a model especially designed for that task.
I think what makes it special is that that the handle is fancier than the usual metal and plastic that Buck's fixed blade knives use.

no special purpose at all it works for most hunting/camping chores but it’s not optimal for most. I prefer a 4-4.5 inch long drop point design like my Gerber Gator fixed blade and my Cold Steel Master Hunter. They are more useful for 99% of jobs.
The one you linked and the regular black plastic handle model are both the 119 Special just different submodels.
